Staying Happy When the Kids Go Off to College

Maybe your son or daughter went off to college in the fall, or maybe they're beginning their college career mid-year.

Either way, the extra time you probably spent together over the holidays makes it even harder to face their absence now. If you're missing them so much that it interferes with your own enjoyment of life, it's time to do something about it!

The cure for rebalancing your emotions and ridding yourself of those blues, or that “lost” feeling depends upon the reason why their leaving has put you out of sorts.

Perhaps you just aren’t comfortable with change of any kind. You like the same predictable routine, with the same people in your life every day. If so, you certainly aren’t alone. Especially when life is pleasant, we all have a tendency to want to keep things just the way they are.

Unfortunately, life and growth mean change, and change always creates stress – even when it’s a happy and much-anticipated change.

Walnut is the Bach Flower Essence that will help you move forward. Dr. Bach called The Walnut Flower Remedy the “breaker of spells” because of its ability to untie our bonds with the past.

Perhaps it’s fear for your child that prevents you from enjoying this new step forward in their lives. Maybe for you “out of sight” means “out of my protection.” This state is a huge anxiety producer, and the sooner you can shake it, the better you’ll be both mentally and physically.

Red Chestnut is the Bach Flower Remedy that can free you from this anxious state.

Follow the flower essence links above to read more about each, the visit Feel Bach! to order a blend made just for you.

At this exciting time in your child’s life, he or she needs you as a supporter and a cheerleader – not as a parent sinking into depression because of his or her absence.

Getting the Courage to Advance at Work

Are you working hard, being a strong asset to your employer, and yet not advancing in terms of position and paycheck. Is this happening even when other, less talented co-workers advance?

Are you by chance doing some of the work that those co-workers are being recognized and rewarded for? Do you know you need to ask for a raise, but can't find the courage to do it?

Three different personality traits could be holding you back, and fortunately, Bach Flower Essences can help you re-align your energies and become free of them.

If you suffer from an inability to say no, turn to Centaury. Soon you'll be able to tell your co-workers that they'll have to pull their own weight.

If lack of self-confidence and shyness are keeping you from stepping up to claim responsibility for the good work you've done, or preventing you from asking for that raise, add Larch and Mimulus to your Bach Flower Essences formula.

Visit the Bach Flowers reference guide to learn more about each of these Bach Flowers. Then come back to FeelBach! to order your personal success formula!

To give yourself an extra boost and help the Bach Flower Remedies help you, work on changing your thoughts about that job. Put a picture firmly in your mind about how things will be when you get that raise or promotion. Picture yourself happily working at your new job, and basking in the approval and recognition you'll get from both your co-workers and your boss.

Is Jealousy Blocking Your Success?

Do you go to work and feel jealous or resentful of others in the workplace who seem to be "getting all the breaks?"

If so, it undoubtedly shows in your attitude, and is keeping you from advancement - and from getting those breaks yourself.

You may be perfectly justified in your feelings. It could be true that the boss has a "pet" who gets all the sales leads, or the easy assignments, or the praise. It could also be true that the person fueling your jealousy is actually working longer and harder in order to advance.

But either way, by allowing your feelings of jealousy or resentment to color your days, you're hurting yourself, in ways both personal and professional.

Most of us try to leave the "bad stuff" from work behind when we go home to enjoy our loved ones. But it isn't easy, and if the feelings are strong enough, it isn't even possible.

So there are two solutions:
1. Change jobs - which might not be so easy in this uncertain economic climate.
2. Change your own attitude - which really is easier than you think, if you're caught up in bad feelings right now.

Changing your attitude means looking at the situation from some different angle, and consciously looking for the good instead of the bad. Not easy, but Bach Flower Essences can help.

The Bach Flower Essence Holly will help you banish feelings of hate and jealousy, while Willow will relieve resentment. If your feelings have been building for so long that you know you're just a bit irrational about the situation, add Cherry Plum to your formula.

Go to the Bach Flower Reference Guide and read about these 3 Bach Flower Remedies. Then visit Feel Bach to order a personal formula that will help you rebalance your energies and allow you to find ways to enjoy that job.

You may have other issues - if so, use the questionnaire and let the experts at Feel Bach create your formula.

Life is meant to be joyful - so bring yourself back to that feeling by getting rid of the emotions and feelings that prevent your joy.

Conquering The Holiday Let-Down

Do you feel a little let-down when Christmas is over and company goes home?

That's pretty normal, after you've spent weeks preparing for the big event and looking forward to seeing far-away family. Preparations may have dominated most of your free time lately, and now you're left with a "hole" in your schedule. And you may be feeling a bit lonely if loved ones have been here and now they're gone again.

So what to do? Personally, I take a little Feel5ive just to help me get back on track. Then I make myself busy with cleaning the house - because company always makes a bit of a mess.

Next, I get back to work. In addition to doing what must be done in the week between Christmas and the New Year, I take my "spare time" and set some goals for the coming year. Then I try to put them into a time schedule and write down some suggestions to myself about how I will accomplish them.

Planning for next year takes some focus and concentration, which means I don't have time to feel sorry that I can't keep my kids at home for the rest of their lives.

If your feelings are a little more extreme - as in true distress because you can't be with them and assuring yourself of their safety at all times - you might want to try the Bach Flower Essence Chicory.

First read about how Chicory can help you, then go to Feel Bach! to place your order.
