Keep your pets safe this holiday season...

Christmas and New Year's – a time when your house is filled with treats, and possibly filled with strangers.
Both can cause your dogs and cats distress.

First, the treats. When company is coming, they're often left in bowls around the house, where an enterprising dog or cat can not only reach them, but devour the whole bowl full if the humans happen to be off in another room. Chocolate can be deadly for dogs, especially small dogs. Rains are also poisonous to dogs.

But poison aside, even sugar cookies can cause digestive distress when eaten in quantities. Keep those treats out of reach when you aren't there to keep an eye on them. AND discourage your visitors from giving in to pets who look at them with soulful eyes, trying to convince them to share.

Then, the strangers. Cats are especially prone to hiding when strangers are in the house, and some may even feel a need to escape to the great outdoors. If your cats – or your dogs – are apt to bolt for an open door, keep them contained.

Pets may not enjoy being confined to a crate or even to a bedroom or laundry room, but it's far better for them to be unhappy for a few hours than to be lost and unhappy for the rest of their lives. And of course, pets who run are apt to be run over by a passing car.

If your critters get upset during the holidays, remember that Feel5ive can help keep them calm, even when things are hectic around the house. Put a few drops in their water bowls throughout the season, so they can enjoy it as much as you do.

One more thing – if you expect fireworks for New Year's Eve and your dogs are afraid of the noise, use our Thunderstorms blend to help them through it. As with the Feel5ive, just add a few drops every time you refresh their water bowls.

Wishing you a memorable and happy holiday season!

If this is the year that a child has decided to spend the holidays elsewhere, and you're used to being the center of his or her universe, take Chicory to alleviate your need to control. They do love you, you know! Chicory will help you let go of the need to make them prove it by their presence.

If you're facing the season with a change that you couldn't prevent and didn't want, use Walnut to help you accept what you must accept - and get on with living.

Feel5ive and All Night's Sleep to the Rescue!

Have I ever mentioned my fear of dentists? It's ingrained since childhood, when my Mother was determined to take good care of my teeth. In the past 20 years I've only gone to the dentist when I absolutely couldn't avoid it – as when something really hurt.

This year I finally couldn't avoid extensive dental work. Due to an accident a few years ago, a couple of teeth had broken and two more were dangerously loose. The only options were to live as a "toothless old lady" or get an upper denture.

And was I scared!!

I know all those extractions probably weren't going to kill me. Maybe. I do have allergies, so…? I doubt that Feel5ive saved my life, but it did save my looks, because I believe that without it I wouldn't have worked up the courage to keep that appointment. I started taking a few drops several times a day about 3 days ahead of time. And… much to my joy, I wasn't quaking in fear when I arrived at the dentist's office.

But that was just the first part. Getting used to that monster in my mouth was another story. I couldn't believe how hard it was just to swallow, let alone eat food. Taking it off to clean it hurt, and putting it back hurt even worse.

Feel5ive gave me the courage to face that pain.

And then there was the tiredness. It's hard to go to sleep when something hurts, as my mouth did even without the denture. All Night's Sleep let me relax and get some much-needed rest.

My message to you is this: If there's something you're really, really afraid of, but it's important that you do it - take Feel5ive. It will calm you down and give you the courage to do what you need to do.

When your "Energy tank" is on empty, turn to Dr. Bach's flowers

There's an old saying "My get up and go done got up and went." (Yes, grammatically incorrect, but no one can miss the idea it conveys.)

If you're facing life with energy at a low ebb, you know exactly what it means. You have things to do, but you'd rather not. You'd rather just sit down and do nothing.

There are medical conditions that lead to this kind of lethargy, so you should check with your doctor. If the doctor says there's nothing physically wrong, then you need to think about what is emotionally wrong.

Perhaps you've created a routine for yourself that has become a rut – and as the rut gets deeper, it's becoming harder and harder to get out. Your energies have become stuck and an energy deficit is dragging you down.

We get into these ruts sometimes because we’re afraid to reach out and try something new, or because circumstances have given us no choice. When there’s an important task at hand and we have to stick with it, or when we’ve been confined by an illness, we haven’t much opportunity to add variety to our lives.

This can happen to everyone for short periods of time, but when it becomes a habit and life becomes more of a chore than a joy, it's time to take action. The very real danger is in becoming more and more depressed – and in letting your negative feelings spill over to affect the people you love.
Fortunately, when you recognize yourself getting into this state, you can treat it with Dr. Bach's Essences and get your enthusiasm and love of life back.

Hornbeam is the Bach Remedy that treats the feeling of “living in a rut” and allows you to reach out to new experiences – and even to carry on the daily routine with new interest.

Gentian helps to overcome both depression and that “I don’t want to do this” state of mind.

Olive is the essence to get you over that feeling of being both mentally and physically "done in."

You deserve to look forward to each day of your life with joy... So visit FeelBach! today and get the Flower Essences you need to put your energies back in order.

Can Dr. Bach's Formulas Help Your Small Business Succeed?

In today's economy, creating your own business is a smart move – as long as you can and will do the work to promote that business and make it grow.

Obviously, the Internet allows small business people to reach out in ways we didn't have just a few years ago. The problem is, everyone else is there too, so entrepreneurs need to do something to make their Internet presence known.

One of those ways is to give talks to groups who might be interested in the product or service you have to offer.

Think about groups who could benefit from knowing some of what you know – whether it's how to write a good fundraising letter, how to remove a spot on your carpet, or how to choose the best real estate agent.

By offering free advice you'll brand yourself as the expert in your field – just like those who "Wrote the book" on a subject.

The second benefit to giving talks is that you'll set yourself apart from your competitors. Most of them wouldn't dream of it because they're afraid of public speaking.

If you harbor a similar fear, don't worry. There IS a solution, and it comes in a little bottle of flower essences labeled "Feel5ive." This is the blend that calms the nerves and lets you get through stressful situations without falling apart.

If you're even afraid to contact someone to offer your talk, start using it right away. Take 4 drops morning, afternoon, and evening. Before long you'll be able to calmly pick up the phone and start promoting yourself.

On the day of your talk take Feel5ive as usual, but add 4 drops just prior to going "on stage."

Who can you speak to?

Service groups and the Chamber of Commerce are always looking for interesting speakers, and once you get started you'll come up with more and more ideas for places where you can speak. Even better, once you get started, it will get easier with each presentation.

You can also speak at your school's Career Days, being sure to give the students interesting hand-out materials that just might make it home to their parents.

Feel Bach! for Dog Obedience Training?

Have you ever tried to train a young dog who is simply too "busy" to pay attention - or to settle down and be quiet when you're on the phone?

That's what we've been doing. He's ten months old and an absolute sweetheart, but he's into everything. His latest adventure is finding books to chew up. (And he has the teeth to do a fine job of it.)

He's also started being as obnoxious as a human 3 year old when I'm on the phone. He wants my attention, and he's determined to have it.

I've been taking him outside to play and play and play - hoping to make him tired enough to settle down, but he has more energy than I do!

So a couple of days ago I hit on an idea, and it seems to be working.

I've been putting the Attention Deficit formula in his water dish,  and he really is calming down. He's still a bit naughty, but he's listening better, and he's only been on the formula for two days.

And this afternoon he let me carry on a phone conversation without pestering me even once.

Perhaps Feel Bach! should offer a pet formula for calming over-active dogs. In the meantime, if you've got a puppy like mine, try Attention Deficit.

Do You Know Someone Who is Afraid of Food?

Those suffering from a little-known eating disorder called orthorexia nervosa are making themselves sick through fear of foods. Their fixation on righteous eating causes them to limit their food choices more and more until malnutrition results.

We can sympathize with their feelings, because the more we read about food additives and the effects of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides, the more we all wonder if the food we're eating is good for us.

But these sufferers, who are generally over 30 years of age and well-educated, take it to unhealthy extremes.

They commonly refuse to touch sugar, salt, caffeine, alcohol, wheat, gluten, yeast, soya, corn and dairy foods. Then they eliminate any foods that may have come into contact with pesticides or herbicides and any that might contain artificial additives.

Their habits become just as destructive as if they ate nothing but fast foods.

One Flower Essence that could help these people is Mimulus. This is Dr. Bach's Remedy for the personality that fears real life. Their fears are grounded in the fact that something bad could happen, even though it has not happened.

You might recognize a Mimulus personality by their frequency of illness and the length of time it takes them to recover. The Law of Attraction dictates that the excess attention they give to their illnesses usually delays recovery.

If you think you may be suffering from a negative Mimulus state, come to FeelBach! and take the questionnaire.  Then you'll know exactly which of Dr. Bach's remedies will help you most.
