Do you become paralyzed by fear?

Many years ago, when I was in college, I was required to take a speech class – and I found it terrifying.

We had to write and present three speeches that semester, and once the deadline for preparedness came, we never knew which day we would be called upon to present. I got stomach aches just thinking about going to class.

Back in those days I didn’t know about Dr. Bach’s flower essences. I did know about tranquilizers,
and I took one every day that I might be called upon to speak.

Looking back, I know I wasn’t doing my body any good by ingesting those pills. I doubt that I did my presentations much good, either, by being a bit groggy and spaced out every day.

Fast forward to about ten years ago when I was presented with another situation that, for me, was equally terrifying. But this time I had Feel5ive. Knowing what came ahead, I began taking it three times a day.

I got through that situation without stomach aches and without taking dangerous prescription drugs. I counted on Feel5ive to keep me calm, and it did. While I still had fear, it wasn’t terrifying.
Today I keep Feel5ive on hand all the time. It helps me through everything from visits to the dentist to having to travel over icy roads in winter. I also give it to my dogs before a visit to the vet. (Yes, dogs can experience “White coat syndrome” just like humans.)

If you have situations in which you feel fear, or if your children or pets face fearful situations, come over to FeelBach! and add Feel5ive to your medicine shelf.

Back to School time – already!

It seems like summer just got started, and here it is, time for kids to
head back to school.

Some are eagerly awaiting the first day – happy to begin first grade or to get back in the classroom with their friends.

Others are dreading it, wishing for the days to go slower before they’ll be required to show up.

Your child may be dreading school because it is an entirely new experience, or because it hasn’t been a pleasant experience. He or she may have been bullied or teased. There may be classmates – or even teachers – that make each day unpleasant.

Perhaps you and your children have moved to a new community over the summer – so everything is different and scary. He or she won’t know anyone, won’t know the layout of the school, and won’t know any of the teachers. For a lot of kids, this is terrifying.

Your child may have just moved from middle school to Junior High School. Or from Junior High to Senior High – or high school to college. Everyone is subjected to those rites of passage, but that doesn’t make it any easier for a student who is filled with anxiety over the change.

How can you help?

First, by being understanding without being “enabling.” Let your child know that his or her feelings are perfectly normal. A whole lot of kids feel the same way. If you experienced the same anxiety, talk about how you got through it. Understand it, but don’t make a bigger problem out of it.

Second, by providing your child with a bottle of Feel5ive from FeelBach!.

Feel5ive is the anti-stress formula Doctor Bach created to deal with fear and anxiety. It’s there to help on those fearful first days, and at times when you have to face something like a job interview or an audition, a dental appointment, surgery, or meeting your sweetheart’s Mom for the first time.

Four drops 3 or 4 times a day will help keep your child on an even keel. Since schools are suspicious of anything they don’t know, put the mid-day drops in a bottle of water or juice that your child will take to school.

Oh – and if you are the one who is anxious about your child going off to school, it will help you too!

Back to School – a time of anxiety and fear for many youngsters

When a child is entering Kindergarten or perhaps first grade, it’s natural to be a bit fearful. Will the teacher be nice – or mean. What about the other children? Will they like me or hate me?

Then making the transition to Junior High or High School brings a new anxiety. Suddenly the child is
moved from “upper classman” to a lowly newbie. And they know that many of the older students won't let them forget it.

Then there are all those poor kids who have moved over the summer and are entering a new school where they don’t know one soul? Terrifying!

All the parental reassurances in the world won’t stop some children from going into that first day – and even those first weeks of school without fear and apprehension.

Dr. Bach’s Mimulus flower extract will help.

Some flower essence practitioners believe that the Mimulus fears are akin to the fear of the newborn – coming from a safe womb into a harsh new world. And isn’t that much like what children experience when being thrust into a new environment where their protectors (parents) cannot follow.
Mimulus helps regain the soul quality of courage, allowing the sufferer to bravely move forward.

Aspen is another of Dr. Bach’s essences that will aid a child at this time. Aspen relates more to vague fears and apprehension – as when a child is fearful but can’t say exactly why.

Rock Rose is most helpful in situations where the child knows exactly why they are fearful. Perhaps they’ve been bullied or ridiculed – or even physically assaulted in school. Those fears border on terror and panic.

All of these remedies can be found in Feel Bach’s Feel5iveformula. This is one that many of us keep on hand to use in occasional stressful situations – a job interview, a trip to the dentist, or a first meeting with a sweetheart’s family.

Click the links and read more about each of these remedies, then choose what’s right for your child. Start treatment a few days before school starts, so he or she can begin building inner defenses against that crippling fear.
